TEACHING METHODOLOGY NO: 3 GAME-BASED LEARNING METHOD

 

AIM:

§  To improve the critical thinking of the learners.

§  To increase student engagement by adding sense of fun to learning journey.

§  To inculcate the essence of teamwork.

CONTENT OUTLINE:

Identifying reversible and irreversible changes. Original substances cannot be reverted back, new substances are always formed is irreversible change. Substances that can be reverted back to its original state is reversible change.

PROCEDURE:

§  The teacher first explains the rules and regulations of the game and how to play it.

                             i.            One student from a team I assigned to draw a picture from the stack card chosen.

                           ii.            The assigned student is given a minute to draw the picture on the board.

                         iii.            Once drawing is done, one from his team need to guess the answer.

§  Right answers will be given a point. No negative points or wrong answer.

§  At the end, winning team will be rewarded.

EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS:

§  One can enhance the game-based learning virtually by introducing technology.

§  Feedback is hardly a part of the process. Hence proper feedback mechanism can be maintained.

CONCLUSION:

The findings indicated that game based learning significantly had better academic achievement and better attitude towards science learning.
